Our Story
The Villa Dalmacia Association Inc. has been a cornerstone of support and community for Southern European migrants in Perth, Western Australia, for over 30 years. Established in response to the unique needs of Croatian and Italian elders, the association’s origins date back to the 1980s, when a group of dedicated community members saw the need for culturally specific aged care services. They organized a campaign to raise funds for an aged care facility in Spearwood, leading to the construction of the Villa Dalmacia Aged Care Home at 27 Gorham Way.
The association’s achievements include the development of a residential care model that emphasizes cultural sensitivity, independence, and high-quality care, particularly for European elders in need of personalized aged care options. This facility, now managed by Hall & Prior, offers residential aged care, respite, and independent living, with programs that honor residents’ cultural backgrounds through activities, meals, and social events. Villa Dalmacia’s success stems from the generous support of the community, with a range of fundraisers that brought in significant contributions and resources from local businesses and families dedicated to enhancing aged care for the elderly
The Association today
Today, the Villa Dalmacia Association is embarking on a new phase of community support with the Villa Dalmacia Grants Program, set to launch in 2025. This initiative aims to extend the association’s reach beyond aged care by providing financial support for projects that benefit the broader Southern European and culturally diverse communities in Perth. Through this grants program, Villa Dalmacia will empower local groups, foster social inclusion, and preserve cultural heritage, ensuring that its legacy of service continues to impact future generations positively
